“After I kill a man, I mourn his fate. Before I kill, I only hate.”
The Russian notion “Stervets” is similar to English “blackguard”. Might be this association made the designers coat the balde by black oxide.
The main specialization of the Kizlyar Stervets determined by its design and shape of the blade is a throwing knife.
Optionally it can be used as a spear or harpoon. Its household usage is unlikely, but possible, though its short handle is just 2 ¾ inches long.
The false edge of the blade, made in the form of an ‘undercut’, is 1 5/8 inch long, and is just designed for domestic tasks, albeit with a small performance.
The 72-75 degrees point angle remains the same over the entire length of the 3 inch cutting edge. Just as the Kizlyar Strela and Piranya knives, Stervets has no lanyard, which again confirms the ‘throwing’ destiny of the knife.
Stervets gives a lot of fun and a strong desire to throw it again and again. The controlled flight and a mellow sound “tummm” when entering the target cause a most positive emotion. The stable throwing results are achieved from the distance of 10-16 feet, when the knife is gripped at the blade. The goal is almost always pierced at the angle of 90 degrees.
As a spear, the shafted knife flys well and far. It can hit the target from the distance of 50 feet.
Kizlyar Stervets is a pronounced throwing knife. Its bold and aggressive appearance immediately attracts attention due to its brutal beauty.
Athletic design, black coating and excellent balance (the center of gravity is moved closer to the tip) creates the impression that the blade can hit the target in any throw, from any position.
Its double-edged blade is shaped like a spear. The steel frame is cord-wound near the handle. If necessary, the cord can be removed for replacement or cleaning.
There is nothing to be broken in the knife of the extreme strength. Like the majority of the Kizlyar brand knives, it comes with a sturdy sheath of natural leather. On the both sides the sheath is decorated with embossed artistic ornaments.
The knife does not apply to melee weapons and has the confirming certificate.

“Taran” is a Russian word meaning “battering ram” – an ancient weapon used during a city siege.
The Taran Kizlyar Knife’s design refers to the “Finka” – the knife of Scandinavian ice fishermen who needed a tough, but narrow blade in order to easily stab the catch into its brain for quicker kill.
The concave sharpening of the blade with high razor-type slopes helps to achieve a special thinness and sharpness of the cut.
The fairly long blade of the knife is good for cutting up fish, and the Elastron-G handle increases the grip well.

Strazh (Guard) is the knife designed and originally made under the order of the Russian FSB (former KGB). And it is still widely used – mostly as a back up weapon – by the undercover field officers.
The knife, being rather small, is extremely tough and practical.
The shape of its blade is a mixture of a small utility knife and a double-edge dagger with serration on the spine edge.
The slightly oversized guard provides comfortable protection and safe grip.
