The Taran Kizlyar Knife continues the Scandinavian Nord (Finskiy) series of knives.
This model obtained a new blade, the prototype of which is the legendary scout knife HP-40 launched in 1940. This combat knife was put into service in the USSR Red Army, and it became the ancestor of the AK-47 bayonet. The light and narrow 7/8 inch blade allowed to stab it between the ribs of the enemy with the least resistance.
From its progenitor, the Taran differs with the shape of the handle, as well as lack of typical for cold steel s-shaped guard convenient for stabbing.

“Taran” is a Russian word meaning “battering ram” – an ancient weapon used during a city siege.
The Taran Kizlyar Knife’s design refers to the “Finka” – the knife of Scandinavian ice fishermen who needed a tough, but narrow blade in order to easily stab the catch into its brain for quicker kill.
The concave sharpening of the blade with high razor-type slopes helps to achieve a special thinness and sharpness of the cut.
The fairly long blade of the knife is good for cutting up fish, and the Elastron-G handle increases the grip well.
