The pin badge is made of a goldish metal in the form of a blue Greek cross with flared straight ends and beveled edges. In the center of the cross there is a round red medallion with an imposed heraldic symbol – the emblem of Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs framed with a golden laurel wreath. Between blades of the cross there are two crossed swords in red scabbards with the hilts up.
On the back of the pin badge there is a screw for fastening it to the uniform.
The emblem of the MVD is a golden double-headed eagle with outstretched wings, topped with one large and two smaller crowns, holding a scepter and an orb. On the eagle’s chest there is a round shield with a foot soldier spearing a dragon. The shield is superimposed on crossed swords and bordered by the laurel branches.
Two crossed swords in scabbards represent the main task of the bodies of internal affairs: to guard the law and order in the state and to unsheath the sword, i.e. to use weapons, only as a last resort against those who have violated the law.
The blue cross is a traditional sign for law enforcement symbolism.
The blue color is a symbol of faith, loyalty and truth, the traditional color of the police uniform.
The red symbolizes strength and courage.
The laurel wreath is a symbol of devotion to duty, valor and glory.
