The pin badge is made of a goldish metal with enamel. It is a triangular heraldic shield with concave upper corners, which is superimposed on a golden unsheathed sword. The shield is framed by a laurel wreath entwined with a ribbon of the colors of Russia national flag. On the maroon field of the shield there is the emblem of the Command of the North Caucasian District of the Internal Troops – a Wild Horse.
The shield is crowned with Russian National Emblem – the double-headed eagle holding the scepter and orb.
On the wide gray edging of the shield there are golden rivet-heads and the inscription: “RUSSIAN INTERNAL TROOPS”.
Backside there is a screw for fastening the pin badge to military uniform.
The Wild horse is an animal without a bridle and a rider, with flowing mane. It symbolizes the historical fact of the development of a new, yet not conquered area.
A shield and a drawn sword is the general emblem of Russian Interior Ministry, a symbol of constant readiness for action to ensure the safety and armed protection of the citizens.
Maroon is the color of the Special Forces of Russian Interior Ministry.
