The pin badge is made of a goldish metal with enamel. It is a triangular heraldic shield with concave upper corners, which is superimposed on a golden unsheathed sword. The shield is framed by a laurel wreath entwined with a ribbon of the colors of Russia national flag. On the maroon field of the shield there is the emblem of the Command of the Ural District of the Internal Troops – a salamander.
The shield is crowned with Russian National Emblem – the double-headed eagle holding the scepter and orb.
On the wide gray edging of the shield there are golden rivet-heads and the inscription: “RUSSIAN INTERNAL TROOPS”.
Backside there is a screw for fastening the pin badge to military uniform.
Salamander is a fictional beast, a kind of a lizard, a mythological spirit of fire. It is considered the most toxic of all the creatures, its bite is deadly. Crown on his head salamanders – a symbol of success and excellence.
A shield and a drawn sword is the general emblem of Russian Interior Ministry, a symbol of constant readiness for action to ensure the safety and armed protection of the citizens.
Maroon is the color of the Special Forces of Russian Interior Ministry.
