The commemorative pin badge of goldish metal with enamel is made in the form of a laurel wreath imposed over a ruby cross with extending cut blades: diamond-shaped vertically and concave ends horizontally. In the center of the cross there is a relief image of the MIA emblem – a golden double-headed eagle with spread wings.
At the left and the right of the cross the laurel wreath is intertwined with a ribbon of the colors of the national flag which ends fall to the wreath basis. At the top of the wreath there is a black figured ribbon with a relief goldish inscription: “PARTICIPANT OF COMBAT OPERATIONS”.
On the back of the commemorative badge there is a screw for fastening it to the military uniform.
The emblem of Russian Ministry of internal Affairs (MIA) is an image of a golden double-headed eagle with raised wings, holding the scepter and orb and topped with two small crowns and a large one over them, which are interconnected with a ribbon.
On the eagle’s chest there is a round shield with an image of a foot warrior spearing a dragon. The shield is imposed over two crossed swords and framed with a laurel wrench.
Two crossed swords in sheath in the emblem of Russian MIA designate the main task of the law-enforcement bodies: to guard justice and order in the state, and to bare a sword, i.e. to use weapon, only as a last resort against those violating the law.
The foot warrior striking a dragon with a spear is St. George.
The ruby cross is the symbol of fidelity to Russian historical tradition of rewarding soldiers, sailors and junior officers the Order of St. George.
The ruby color symbolizes force and courage, it is a traditional color of the beret of the MIA Special Forces.
The three-colored ribbon on the wreath symbolizes: white – peace, chastity and purity; blue – belief, loyalty and truth; red – constancy, energy, force, courage and blood shed for the Fatherland.
Laurel wreath is the symbol of fidelity to the call of duty, valor and glory.
