The buckle is a slightly curved rectangular plate with an embossed stamped image of the tiny emblem of the Russian Navy.
The emblem consists of a double-headed eagle with outstretched wings, holding two admiralty anchors crossed behind his back; on the eagle’s chest there is a triangular elongated shield with a stock rising to the crown; in the shield – a horseman spearing a dragon.
At the bottom of the emblem there is a curly ribbon with the abbreviation “VMF” which stands for the Navy.
On the reverse side of the buckle there are two steel brackets for fastening to the belt and adjustment to its length, as well as a hook (clasper) for the catching (response) part of the belt.
The crossed anchors is the symbol of belonging to the Navy.

In accordance with the Rules of Wearing of the Uniform of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the waist belt with buckle of the corresponding corps is worn over the greatcoat, leather jacket, sheepskin jacket, coatee, full-dress uniform, over the trousers while wearing a uniform or flannel shirt, and over the warm padded jackets for particularly cold weather.
The waist belt over the pea-jacket is worn for parades, ceremonial meetings, reviews, while moving in order on the shore and when in daily duty.
Over the coats of sergeants, soldiers and conscript sailors, students of military and naval academies, cadets, students of Suvorov and Nakhimov schools, and military builders the waist belt is laid back under the half-belt, at the front it must be overlaid between the fourth and the fifth buttons.
On the full-dress uniforms, the waist belt must overlaid between the third and the fourth (on the coatee – between the fourth and the fifth) buttons.
The waist belt in all cases is tightly fastened with a buckle, which is located in the middle of the body.
