Dog tag “Russian Signal Corps” is made of stainless steel with enamel.
It is an emblem of the Signal Corps – silver vertically arranged lightnings (three are directed up, and the other three – down) against the extended wings. The emblem is framed by a wreath of oak leaves.
At the bottom of the tag there is the raised lettering: “Signal Corps”.
The obverse of the tag provides blank space for the possibility of inscribing personal data, such as blood type, number of military unit, personal number, etc.
The lightning is a historical sign of the Signal Corps, and is a symbol of the variety of channels and the ability to provide information and commands timely.
The oak wreath is a symbol of courage, strength, firmness, valor, loyalty to the service duty.
Russian Signal Corps is a specialized integral part of the Ground Forces of the Russian Army, and its material basis, dependent efficiency of command, the timeliness of combat equipment and weapons largely depends on condition and functioning of the Corps.
In its development, the Signal Corps has come a long and difficult process inseparably linked with the history of the Armed Forces, the changes in the forms and methods of their use and the improvement of the art of war. From simple audio and visual means of communication and transmission of signals and commands on the battlefield – to widely branched multi-channel, advanced automated systems that can provide a link between virtually unlimited range of both stationary and moving objects, be they on the ground, in the water, under the water and in the air. This is the historical path of development and improvement of military communication.
