Product Description
The Divine Infant is depicted on the left of the Virgin, with her right hand she supports His right shoulder. Christ Child blesses with His right hand, and the lowered left hand holds a scroll.
The icon is titled either on the memories that the akathist hymn to Our Lady was chanted in front of it during a fire, or on its frame with picturesque scenes of the akathist story.
The Icon of the Theotokos “Of the Akathist” is placed on the iconostasis of Hilandar Monastery on Mount Athos.
In 1837 a fire occurred at the monastery, and the monks were chanting the Akathist Hymn before the icon. And the icon remained untouched by the fire, which caused great destruction around it.
The monks of Hilandar Monastery also called this icon “Quick to hearken”, for the quick help of the Virgin after the prayer addressed to here before this icon.
The feast day of the icon is January, 12 (for the West Curch), or January, 25 (for the East Church).
Each of the Eggs is unique because it is hand-painted, and all of its components are hand-made. Thus there are no existing absolutely identical copies of any of the Easter Eggs offered to your attention.
According to the Russian Orthodox tradition, all of the products offered (icons, pectoral crosses, candles, church plate elements) are sanctified in the Temple by sprinkling with Holy water.
