Product Description
The icon is painted with extraordinary warmth. It is remarkable for a refined plastic line and perfect silhouette.
Around the waist Christ there is an olive-green band – the Byzantine sign of the imperial authority.
The golden background symbolizes the Divine light.
On the sides there is the Greek contracture of the words with the first and the last letters: “MP” (Mother of God), and near it – “IC XC” (Jesus Christ).
Like the Church Icons plated with a gilded riza (a metal plating on an icon), the Icon of the Easter Egg is framed with a superimposed decorative pattern.
Each of the Eggs is unique because its components are hand-made and manually assembled. Thus there are no existing absolutely identical copies of any of the Easter Eggs offered to your attention.
According to the Russian Orthodox tradition, all of the products offered (icons, pectoral crosses, candles, church plate elements) are sanctified in the Temple by sprinkling with Holy water.
The Icon is a version of the Eleusa (Tenderness) type, with the Christ Child, clinging with His cheek to His Mother’s.
The mournfully frown and silently closed lips convey love and anxiety of the mother, anticipating the suffering of the beloved son on the earth path. The spiritual Face gives the icon humanity and great moral strength.
The main difference of the Vladimir Icon from the rest of the icons of Our Lady Icon of this type (Tenderness) is that Christ Child’s left foot is turned to the spectator with the heel. Knowing this nuance, you can easily distinguish the Vladimir Madonna from other images of the Blessed Virgin.
According to legend, the icon was painted by St. Luke from life, in Jerusalem, on the board of the table at which the Holy Family used to sit.
When resorting to the Vladimir Icon of Our Lady they pray for the strengthening of faith, getting rid of invasions, the reconciliation of the warring, preserving the integrity of the state.
The icon is celebrated on June, 3, July, 6 and September, 8.
