A triangular fabric heraldic shield with equally arched sides, which bears the symbol of the regiment – the scorpion, which is the personification of mortal danger and unpredictability.
The sleeve patch is worn by all soldiers of the regiment regardless of the affiliation to a specific organizational unit.
The 47th Special Operations Regiment “Scorpion” is a part of the 100th Division of the Internal Troops located in Novocherkassk.
The division was formed on October 1, 1989 on the basis of the 14th Panzer Division of the Ministry of Defense. Structure of troops was copied from the Moscow Special Operations Division named after F. E. Dzerzhinsky.
In an era of instability and conflict the soldiers of the compound had to visit almost all points of the former Soviet Union, where war had become a reality.
At first, Nagorno-Karabakh – the first hotbed of ethnic hatred in the post-Soviet history. Then – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, the Ossetian-Ingush conflict. Since 1994 – Chechnya and Dagestan, in 2008 – North Ossetia. A trip to the war is called “a business trip” or a special combat mission. The Spetsnaz “performance” is an obligatory part of the program of such events. The Squad “Rosich” is the pride and pain of the 100th Division: in its lists, there are six of the ten soldiers who have appropriated the title of the “Hero of Russia” posthumously. Only two Cavaliers of the “Gold Star” are alive.
The Novocherkassk Division is considered one of the most effective in the Internal Troops.
