The sleeve patch represents the emblem of the personal guard of Ramzan Kadyrov.
The central part of the emblem is the peak of Tebulosmta – the highest mountain in Chechnya, with weaving Russian National and the Chechen Republic flags.
The name “Tebulosmta” means “victorious mountain.”
Below is a curly red ribbon with the name of the battalion (“North” and “South”).
Along the perimeter there is the inscription: “The Special Purpose Battalion of Russian Interior Ministry Troops.”
Battalions of special purpose “North” and “South” are formed of former militants, who had served in the police and anti-terrorist center of the Chechen Republic, controlled by Prime Minister Ramzan Kadyrov.
The divisions are submitted to the North Caucasus Military District of Internal Troops to complement the special forces battalions of the Main Intelligence Agency (GRU) – the “East” and “West”, performing combat tasks of law enforcement in Chechen settlements.
