Product Description
The knife features the same milled form of the blade as other outstanding military series of the manufacturer’s knives, but it has a more functional clip point style of the blade, presenting a really versatile design.
The knife features a single-piece molded Elastron handle and an ABS polymer sheath with leg straps. The item has proven to be a very popular knife amongs the Russian Police (OMON) and FSB officers due to its unexampled strength, versatile blade geometry and exellent cutting/slicing ability.
The knife does not apply to melee weapons.
A glimpse at the knife shows its military origin, but actually there is rather more to it than just that. The blade has been given a clip point which adds to its multi-purposness and is partially why the knife is so popular among the Russian Police and the FSB.
The Korshun-2 Kizlyar knife has opted to use french made Z60 steel used in the butchering and processing industry, so it is worth noting that the steel will have no problems handling any field butchering tasks.
The blade itself is just less than 6.5 inches long and the total length of the knife is 11.5 inches. As was mentioned above, the knife has a clip point showing that it is not intended to be a fighting knife only. Its blade is 7/32 inches thick at its widest and it is of course, a full tang knife. Besides, there is an exposed pommel at the butt, which is used, if needed, as a bush hammer. The blade is hollow-ground, basically a concave grind giving the blade specific qualities. The hollow-grinds produce extremely sharp blades but they are known to be weaker than full flat grind for instance. The hollow-grind is intended, and much suits to the knife.
The handle of the knife is made of Elastron-G, which is soft but firm and has an almost tacky feel to it. Even with wet sweaty hands the knife won’t slip out of your grip.
The Korshun is completed with an ABS polymer sheath, which suits it well. The belt loop is of a quick attachable design, and can be fitted without the need to remove your belt. The quick attach is held by two buttons providing secure fitment. There are two friction points on the back of the sheath which help to retain the knife securely. These friction points are used in conjunction with the retaining clip because they won’t securely hold the knife without it. When both methods are used together the knife is secure and there’s no risk of the knife’s self-freeing. The sheath has two slots either side of it, which are used to add a leg strap to if needed. The sheath also has a drainage hole to help keep your blade dry in case of wet conditions. More than that, an ABS polymer tactical ambidexter sheath is a very good news for “lefties”.
The hand-made Korshun-2 Kizlyar Knife performs well and is going to serve you a lifetime.
