Symbols on the clock-face:
At the top of the watch, at the twelve-hour point, there is a golden National Emblem of Russian Federation.
In the central part there is a composition of a missile boat and a submarine skimming the waves, and a military aircraft flying under the waving of St. Andrew’s flag of the Russian Navy.
The composition symbolizes the basic components of the Navy (except for the Coastal Troops): Surface Forces, Submarine Forces and Naval Aviation.
Above the axis of the hands there is the “Komandirskie” trade mark.
Close to the nine-hour point – the nameplate of the watch factory “Vostok”.
At the level of the six-hour point there is a golden Hall anchor. Below – the inscription: “Made in Russia”.
St. Andrew’s flag is the Navy flag of the Russian Empire and modern Russia, аpproved by Tsar Peter I in 1699. The flag is a white background with two blue diagonal stripes forming an oblique cross, which gave the name of St. Andrew’s to the flag, for it represents the form of the cross on which the patron saint of Russia St. Andrew the Apostle had martyred.
Anchor is the symbol of belonging to the Navy. The golden color is a symbol of generosity.
Russian coat of arms is a golden double-headed eagle with outstretched wings, topped with two small crowns and a large crown above them, united with a ribbon. In the right claw of the eagle there is a scepter, in the left – an orb. On the eagle’s chest there is a shield with a horseman spearing an dragon, overturned backwards. The image symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
On the back cover (caseback) of stainless steel there is an image of the Russian Federation State Emblem. It is circumferentially surrounded by embossed inscription detached by two stars: “RUSSIA” “WATERPROOF”.
The bracelet is made of genuine leather. The stiffening ribs, stamped on the bracelet, increase its life and make it more comfortable to wear.
Since 1965, this mechanical watch has won recognition and trust due to its high accuracy, surplus stocks of reliability and resistance to environmental stress.
Vostok Komandirskie were designed by Russian engineers for use in extremely harsh environments, where there is often no capacity for competent service of the mechanism. At the core of the watch are a reliable shock resistant mechanism,a dust and waterproof case and a special spherical glass.
During “Operation Desert Storm” U.S. military appreciated the practicality of this watch. Ten thousand copies of Vostok Komandirskie with commemorative symbols were made for the participants of the Operation under Ministry of Defense’s order. These watches are valuable relics, kept today in many American families.
