Symbols on the clock-face:
On the black watch face there is the State Emblem of the Russian Federation – one of the main state symbols. Adopted on November 30,1993. The prototype of the modern State Emblem is the seal of the Russian Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich (Alexis I) adopted in 1667.
Below twelve-hour point there is a Russian version of the logo of the watch factory “Vostok” (East).
At the level of the six-hour point is the inscription: “Made in Russia”.
The State Emblem of the Russian Federation represents a golden double-headed eagle crowned with two small crowns, and a big crown above them. The crowns are united with a ribbon. In its clutches the eagle holds the scepter and orb. On its cheast there is a red shield with a silver rider in a blue cloak, on a silver horse, striking with a silver spear a black inverted backward and downtrodden dragon.
Three crowns over the heads of the eagle (two small and one general) are the historical crowns of Peter the Great, the symbol of the sovereignty of the Federal subjects (smaller crowns) and the Russian Federation (the big crown) as a whole.
The scepter and orb stand for the state power and the unity of the state.
The horseman spearing a dragon is a symbolic image of the victory of good over evil.
On the back cover (caseback) of stainless steel there is an image of the Russian Federation State Emblem. It is circumferentially surrounded by embossed inscription detached by two stars: “RUSSIA” “WATERPROOF”.
The bracelet is made of genuine leather. The stiffening ribs, stamped on the bracelet, increase its life and make it more comfortable to wear.
Since 1965, this mechanical watch has won recognition and trust due to its high accuracy, surplus stocks of reliability and resistance to environmental stress.
Vostok Komandirskie were designed by Russian engineers for use in extremely harsh environments, where there is often no capacity for competent service of the mechanism. At the core of the watch are a reliable shock resistant mechanism,a dust and waterproof case and a special spherical glass.
During “Operation Desert Storm” U.S. military appreciated the practicality of this watch. Ten thousand copies of Vostok Komandirskie with commemorative symbols were made for the participants of the Operation under Ministry of Defense’s order. These watches are valuable relics, kept today in many American families.
