The emblem is a fabric stripe in the form of a pentagonal shield extended from top to bottom, with the bent top part and a goldish edging.
The field of the shield is of blue (cornflower-blue) color traditional for the uniform of the State Security agencies and counterintelligence.
In the centre of the emblem there is the image of the waving State Flag of Russia.
The inscription at the top of the patch reads: “RUSSIA”, at the bottom – the abbreviation “FSB”.
The main activities of the Federal Security Service are:
b) anti-terrorism fight;
c) anti-crime fight;
i) border guarding;
f) information security.

1934 – People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs (NKVD);
1946 – Ministry of State Security (MSS);

1995 – The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).
