The sleeve patch represents a black triangular heraldic shield with an arc plate at the top.
In the shield there is a stylized image of a gray-blue porbeagle pierced by a lightning.
The shark is a symbol of the enemy submarine fleet, intimidation, force and brutality.
The red lightning is a symbol of struggle, which is considered a manifestation of the divine wrath.
The death caused by lightning is the death resulting from the Heaven.
The inscription on the arc plate of the sleeve patch reads: “THE NORTHERN FLEET COMPLEX”.
The history of the Kola Flotilla is the history of long voyages, months of combat services, flawless performance of the duty in the world’s ocean, successful development of new generations of ships. The unit’s ships performed more than 1,500 outlets in the Norwegian Sea, the Faeroe-Iceland area, Novaya Zemlya, North- East Africa and the Mediterranean. They have made more than 70 official and business visits to foreign ports.
The Kola Flotilla of diverse forces was created on April 15, 1982, and included:
two brigades of patrol ships; a minesweepers brigade; an antisubmarine division; a submarine brigade; a missile boat brigade; a reserve ships brigade; two coastal missile regiments; coastal artillery battery; two artillery battalions. In completion there was formed a detachment to combat underwater sabotage forces and means (PDSS).
The Flotilla was formed of the units having glorious military traditions, who made a great contribution to the victory over Nazi Germany. 24 sailors of these units were awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union during the Second World War, more than 300 soldiers were awarded military decorations and medals, 12 fighters were enrolled in the lists of ships for ever.
