The servicemen of the units of the 34th “Shumilov” Special Operations Brigade are worthy children of their fathers and grandfathers who fought in the Second World War, the keepers of Russian military traditions and a good example for future generations.
The training battalion for the officers of the Internal Troops was established on June 18, 1962.
In 1968 the battalion was transformed into the training regiment of the USSR Interior Ministry Troops, which prepared junior commanders for the protection of important public facilities, and communications specialists.
Since 1988 the servicemen of the regiment participated in the elimination of all local ethnic conflicts arising in the territory of the former USSR.
In 1996 the regiment was reorganized into a special operations brigade, performing duties in the Chechen Republic.
