The pennant is made of blue cloth. It is an elongated pentagon peaked to the bottom.
In the upper part of the pennant there is an inserted rod with a braid, designed for fastening.
The cloth is framed with an inner and an outer goldish piping.
At the bottom of the pennant there is the image of two crossed laurel leaves.
The central figures of the pennant are: the small emblem of the Military Aviation – a propeller with soaring wings on the background of the Air Force flag, and a stylized image of the fighter Su-35. The emblem is framed with an oak wreath entwined with a ribbon of the colors of the National Flag. On the basis of the wreath there is a red shield- cartouche with the abbreviation “VVS” (Air Force) made in old Russian ornamental style.
The emblem and the wreath are crowned with a red five-pointed star.
The inscription at the top reads: “RUSSIA”, at the bottom – “Air Force”.
A pennant is a collective decoration for courage, martial valor and high combat training.
The heraldic elements of the memorial pennant represent the peculiarities of the duty of the Air Force:
The propeller is the symbol of flight, the soaring wings – agility, maneuverability and mobility.
The blue color of the cloth symbolize honor and fidelity, and is the traditional color of the Air Force uniform.
The laurels of oak and laurel leaves are the symbols of the fidelity to service duty, valor and glory of military aviators.
The blue color of the Air Force flag symbolizes peaceful cloudless sky. The fourteen yellow rays represent the rays of the sun and symbolize equal orientation, warmth and openness of relations with other states and nations.
Su-35 (Flanker-E+ in NATO’s classification) is the pride and power of Russian military aviation – a supermaneuverable multipurpose jetfighter.
The red five pointed star is a historical tribute to the feats of arm of our forefathers during World War II and the glorious traditions of Russian Army.
