Meet the NSK series of Kizlyar flic knives!
The abbreviation “NSK” stands for “Kizlyar Clasp-Knife”.
The Russian historical name of a jackknife is close to the notion of “penknife”, due to the use of small folding pocket knives to repair goose pens when writing.
The Kizlyar NSK-4 is a medium-size folding knife designed for everyday usage in urban environments.
It is not a lock blade, therefore is used for lighter tasks. The handle is made of molded ABS polymer, so the knife is lighter than other NSKs of the class and is easy to carry.
On the background of the legion of Chinese knives of any kind, the release of NSK-4 in one-piece plastic body proves to be a very good solution.
Due to the fluoroplastic washers mounted on the blade’s axis of rotation, the knife has no cross backlash characteristic for the like constructions. The washers prevent the blade from touching the housing and make the slip of the blade better.
The NSK-4 comes with handles of various colors.
What the NSK-4 is needed for?
It is a simple and inexpensive pocket knife designed for a vide range of jobs which do not require a large load on the blade. These are almost all the food works. The length of the blade allows cutting fruits, vegetables, bread, cheese, meat and fish. You will not regret if take the knife on a picnic or outing, where set of knives always “die” from the hands of good friends. A lot of knives were lost during such walks, and, unlike the NSK-4, it would be a great pity to lose a more expensive knife.
Kizlyar NSK-4 may lie as a duty knife in the house, garage or car.
When you travel to another city, it will find its place, too, and if you forget it in a hotel, it will not be a big problem.
The knife is also good for mushroom picking or fishing, and if you order the handle of a bright color, you will have a chance to find it in case of loss.
You never know where else you could find this wonderful knife useful.
Knife Kizlyar NSK-4 has a pretty decent size. In reality, it is bigger than it seems on the photo image.
The slightly curved blade with the beveled butt has an aggressive look. The bevel is almost 2/3 of the blade’s length. The grinds are concave, the edge angle is 35-40 degrees. With the butt thickness of 3/32 inch, it positively affects the quality of the cut. The blade and the tip and strong, it will be difficult to break them.
On the left plane of the blade there is a fingernail slot to open the knife.
The spearhead is strongly lowered, so if you attempt a direct blow, this can lead to the folding of the blade on your fingers. You should also be careful when power cutting of hard materials, when it comes to applying force to the butt.
Self-folding of the blade only occurs at an angle of 40 degrees.
The standard knife is made of 420J (425 mod) steel, well proven by Kizlyar.
The plastic of the housing is very durable, the plates’ thickness is 7/32 inch (5 mm). The NSK-4 handle is convenient in its shape and size.
In the front, near the blade, there is a small fence to protect fingers from slipping on the cutting edge.
At the same place, in front of the handle, there are two grooves for the convenience of the index and middle fingers.
At the end of the handle there is a stop prevent the slipping of the knife from your hand. In the pommel is a regular-size lanyard hole.
The knife does not refer to melee weapons.
