Above the shield there is a weaving ribbon with the inscription “104th Guards Airborne Division.”
At the bottom of the sign there is a waving Guards ribbon with stylized wings coming right and left up of it.
The motto of the division: “HONOR – TO US, GLORY – TO MOTHERLAND!”
Airborne Troops (VDV) are jokily called “Troops of Uncle Vasya” in the army folklore (in honor of their founder – General Vassily Margelov).
