The silhouette of a black bat put over the stylised image of the globe with parallels and meridians is the emblem of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
The inscription along the perimeter of the pin badge reads: “Military Intelligence”.
The commemorative order is awarded in acknowledgement of those who used to serve in the intelligence units of any combat arms and branches of the Russian Armed Forces.
The star-shaped order is made in the style of military Orders of the 18-19 centuries of the Russian Empire.
The prototype of the commemorative order “For Service in the Military Intelligence” was the Imperial Order of St. Equal to the Apostles Grand Duke Vladimir, established in 1782, which motto was: “Benefit, Honor and Glory.”
