The Marines is a sort of coastal corps of the Russian Navy.
The Marines is used on the sea-borne troops for conducting combat operations. Both with the ground forces and independently. Besides, the task of the Marine Corps is to defend the coast (naval bases, ports).
In the Russian army a special unit of the Marine Corps was formed in 1698 of the crew of the battle-ship “Eagle”. After the victory over the Swedes, Peter I decided to create a whole regiment, based on the marine troops of the Baltic Fleet.
Sailors in striped vests and peakless caps fought in the Battle of Borodino and the Crimean War, smashed the Nazi invaders, fought in Angola, Vietnam, Syria , Egypt, Guinea, Afghanistan and Chechnya. Nowadays, the Marines are involved in the fight against Somali pirates.
Automatic small arms, tanks, artillery, anti-tank and anti-aircraft guns, armoured troop carriers are at the disposal of the modern Marine Corps of the Russian Navy.

Dog tag “Airborne Troops of Russia” (Skull) is made of stainless steel with enamel. It is an image of the “dead head” in a blue beret on the background of the waving banner of the Airborne Troops of Russia (VDV).
At the bottom of the tag, on a blue field, there is the emblem of the Airborne Troops of the USSR – an open parachute with a red five-pointed star on the slings and two airplanes on the sides. At the top the emblem is framed with curly ribbon with the motto: “STRENGTH, COURAGE, FORTITUDE.”
Dog tag “Anarchy” (Skull) is made of stainless steel with enamel.
It depicts an image of a black developing cloth with the Jolly Roger emblem attached to a bayonet.
The inscription on the tag calls: “Anarchy is the mother of order”.
The black banner is the traditional anarchist symbol. The uniform blackness of it is in absolute contrast to colorful flags of most nation-states.
The Jolly Roger (a black flag with skull and bones) has gained popularity among anarchists.
The dog tag is made of stainless steel with enamel.
It represents an eagle with raised wings soaring above a flame blast, and carrying a human skull in its talons. There are two sword bayonets to the left and to the right of the eagle.
At the top of the dog tag, above the eagle's head there is an open parachute with a white dome.

Russaian Airborne Troops (Vozdushno-Desantnye Vojska, VDV) are known in the army folklore as “Vojska Dyadi Vasi” (Uncle Basil’s Troops) under the name of their founder – General Vassilij Margelov.
The sleeve patch is the symbol of belonging to the Terek Cossack Host. Approved in 1997.
The Terek Cossacks live along the North Caucasian mountain rivers – Terek, Sunzha, Kura, Malka, Kuma.
Officially the Terek Cossack Host exists since 1577, now it is included in the state register of the Cossack Hosts.
The staff of the Host is located in the city of Vladikavkaz.

The emblem represents stylized images of the snowy peaks of Mount Elbrus, green forests of the Caucasus foothills and blue waters of the river Terek.
