The commemorative pin badge represents a medallion of an oval shape made of a goldish metal (brass), which is put over a ribbon of the colors of Russian national flag. The ribbon is presented as stylized wings.
In the center of the medallion there are relief images of a black bat with outstretched webbed wings and a Kalashnikov (AK- 47) with a folding stock on the background of the globe with parallels and meridians.

The inscription along the perimeter of the pin badge reads: “Military Intelligence”.
The commemorative order is awarded in acknowledgement of those who used to serve in the intelligence units of any combat arms and branches of the Russian Armed Forces.
The star-shaped order is made in the style of military Orders of the 18-19 centuries of the Russian Empire.
The prototype of the commemorative order “For Service in the Military Intelligence” was the Imperial Order of St. Equal to the Apostles Grand Duke Vladimir, established in 1782, which motto was: “Benefit, Honor and Glory.”
Dog tag “Military Intelligence” is made of stainless steel with enamel.
It is a relief image of a black bat with spread wings, sending radio-electronic signals over the surface of the globe.
At the bottom of the tag a stylized image of the radar screen is imposed on the grid of parallels and meridians of the globe. In the upper part there is the inscription: “Military Intelligence”.
