
During World War II, the division fought its way through Hungary, Austria and Czechoslovakia. The paratroopers show specific fighting skills in the reflection of the superior forces of the SS troops at the Battle of Lake Balaton (Hungary), and at the siezure of Vienna.
The division performed peacekeeping missions in Azerbaijan and Abkhazia.
In 1993, the division was moved from Kaunas to Novorossiysk.
In April, 1995 the paratroopers of the division obtained reflected themselves with the everlasting glory during the assault of a cement plant near Chiri-Yurt (Chechnya), which for was seized within several hours without a loss, after several unsuccessful attempts taken by the motorized infantry units.
The Novorossiysk paratroopers’ landing operations near Vedeno and Shatoy played a key role in the defeating of the Chechen gangs during the first Chechen campaign.
The Novorossiysk paratroopers were the first who stood on the way of Basayev’s and Khattab’s gangs in August 1999. They prevented the bandits’ plans to develop a military success in Dagestan with the subsequent involvement of the republic in a wide war in the Caucasus.

Siberian Cossack Host is governmental paramilitary unit in Siberia, which also includes the territory of the North and East Kazakhstan.
It was formed immediately after joining Siberia to Muscovy under Ivan the Terrible on December 6, 1582.
The Siberian Cossacks carried military service in exchange for land and partial autonomy.
The central headquarters of the Siberian Cossack Host is located in the city of Omsk.
